As a rule of thumb, the bigger the room, the darker you can go with the colour of the walls. It's very rare to see a large room painted brilliant white and it's unlikely you would paint a colour like Attic II on all four walls of a small bedroom.
Deep colours have lots of character and will bring a sense of drama and intrigue. For walls they look wonderful in a very flat finish such as Acrylic Matt Emulsion or Ultimatt, or you might use this filter to find the right colour in Gloss or Eggshell paint for your front door.
