 Suitable for Internal Use Only

 During the finishing process, the forged steel appears blue to deep red ochre. To preserve this appearance and the hammered texture of the metal a coating of beeswax is applied.Please note that always fit ironmongery when plaster is fully dry as oxidation can occur.

The use of maintenance wax will help preserve and maintain the protective beeswax coating.


Black (Powder Coated Finish)

Suitable for Internal & External Use 

 The satin black finish is applied using a powder coating process. This low maintenance finish is created using high temperatures producing a durable, corrosion resistant finish.

We recommend that powder coated ironmongery is wiped periodically with a lightly oiled cloth. This removes any deposits and restores the finish. Do not use metal cleaners or aerosol sprays to clean the item.           

Pewter Patina (Powder Coated Finish)

Suitable for Internal & External Use 

 The stylish finish is applied using a powder coating process. This low maintenance finish is created using high temperatures producing a durable, corrosion resistant finish.

Bronze (Powder Coated Finish)

 The anti-corrosive properties of the powder coated finish produce a durable and low maintenance product.

We recommend that powder coated ironmongery is wiped periodically with a lightly oiled cloth. This removes any deposits and restores the finish. Do not use metal cleaners or aerosol sprays to clean the item.




In accordance with the Distance Selling Regulation 2000 you have a cooling off period of 7 working days in which to cancel your order on non bespoke goods. We are confident that you will be delighted with your order, we understand that there are occasions that you may want to return items.  If you decide within the first seven  days of receipt that the products are not to your satisfaction you may return them.  We ask is that you return the goods in their original packaging and condition.

Please note bespoke goods such as cast iron radiators and oak/pine doors are non-refundable 

How to return or exchange items

  • Contact customer services by email sales@periodhousestore.co.uk or call 01748 821500 stating your reason for return and whether you would like an exchange or refund. In the case of damaged goods we need a picture to be e-mailed to us.
  • Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, you may be entitled to a refund or replacement where goods are faulty or damaged, please notify us within 28 working days of receiving the goods and have a valid proof of purchase. If the item is damaged or faulty, then we will cover the cost of collecting the item. Please ensure that if you are sending anything back to us that you request a proof of postage, as we will not be liable for items lost in transit on their way back to us without proof of postage. All we ask is that you return the goods in suitable packaging to avoid any further damages.
  • If you wish to return an item which is not damaged or faulty for a refund or exchange please contact us within 7 working days. This is done at your own cost and original postage will not be refunded.
  • If you have requested a refund, please allow up to 7 days of receipt of your returned items to be processed. The refund can only be credited back onto the original card used to purchase the goods

We are transparent with our delivery costs, many companies offer free delivery and inflate the price of their goods, we prefer to offer the best price we can on the products and also offer the best prices on delivery we can. In the main we offer a two teir delivery system. Palletised deliveries and standard courier deliveries. Our palletised deliveries are £50 and standard courier delivery is £12 both include VAT. Items such as kitchens are variable and we quote this separately. Charges to remoter parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales can attract a surcharge.

We advise our customers to read this section as palletised deliveries are there to generally to deliver large and heavy items and its best to be prepared so ensure the delivery goes smoothly.

Premium Services are available once the radiators are ready for delivery, we will contact you at this to time to arrange delivery.

Paint Deliveries - Little Greene

Paint deliveries are free of charge via a courier service. Signature is required upon receipt of delivery. Please ensure that you inspect the delivery before signing the delivery notes. Damages must be reported within 24 hours of delivery. 

International deliveries

We provide a bespoke delivery quotation, please feel free to place your order and we will contact you with the delivery costs or alternatively contact us before you place your order for precise delivery costs. 

Palletised Deliveries

Our palletised deliveries will be shipped by an independent haulage company using a HGV. When shipped using this method the haulage company will attempt to deliver pallets as close as possible to your main entrance, usually to the closest hard-standing area. The drivers are not contracted to remove items from the pallet, or to carry items into the customer’s property due to their insurance. Clients should warn the Company if there is restricted access, or gravelled driveways etc. 

Cast iron radiators are very heavy items and usually need 2 strong people to move them, the larger radiators may need more.

The customer must make sure there is someone in the house on the agreed delivery date. We can arrange for the courier to call you 1 hour before delivery. Our standard delivery times are between 9am and 5pm for timed, and/or Saturday deliveries which can be arranged at an additional charge contact our office to arrange. The Company reserves the right to charge a redelivery fee should a redelivery be necessary. Cast iron radiators are very heavy, please ensure that there is sufficient manpower to unload the pallet.

Standard Courier Deliveries

We mostly use TNT for our deliveries. The products we ship using this method are generally able to handled by 1 person. You should be in to take delivery on the agreed date, however if you are out the courier will leave a card for you to contact your local depot to make arrangements.

Please be aware you must inspect the goods for damage prior to signing the delivery notes. If for what reason you are unable to inspect the goods sign the sheet as unchecked.

Standard Door Courier Deliveries

Due to their size and weight, our doors are delivered on a special courier service to avoid any damages. Below are the typical delivery lead times for certain doors:

External/Internal Doors that are in Stock - 5-7 Days

Solid Oak External/Bespoke/Made-to-Measure Doors - 4-6 Weeks

Ledged & Braced Doors - 2 Weeks

In their respective lead times, our couriers will contact you to arrange and book in a suitable delivery date for you.

I am very happy with my purchase they are made well and look good. However I do ask the person 'picking' the goods ready to send out to try and match sizes of the goods as I have 2 unmatching hinges. Where they are does not notice much and I have gone with it. Another time it could be different.

Many thanks for your feedback and my apologies that there has been this unusual error. I have informed From the Anvil of the issue and they are looking into it. Whether it was a packing or picking/QC error?
